Yellow FZ6R (If you don't like the STAR)

I don't have one but I think this could look awesome...

I'm getting the FZ6R in future. First I liked the pearl white and played with some designs to replace the fairy farts ;) But then learnt that South Africa only get black and yellow for now. Unfortunately my wife don't like the yellow but I think this could be a nice idea to replace the star if you don't like it.

That could look pretty good, of course we have bit more fairing on the lower part so you'd have to play with those decals a bit to look right. Sometime in the future I may strip all the fairing decals off and do something different. I took the front decals off already on each side of the headlight as they didn't seem to match right with one side being a big white stripe and the other a small white FZ6R sticker.

You could always fix the star decals by getting the R1 instead. LOL

j/k I have pondered what it would look like without the decals as just a yellow bike.

Hmm...I wonder how difficult it would be to get some yellow colored gear.

If the wife doesn't like the yellow buy a Fazer. It's not that much more. I see you already have one, to me the FZ6R is a step back.

HAD one - and she was a beaut and we loved it. Yes I heard the step back thing and I can understand the advice given behind it all, but...

The way I ride I don't need the extras the FZ6 offers. I'll never do track days and truly are a very calm rider. The 4 - 2 piston calipers, more adjustable suspension and the 20hp difference won't make a difference in my riding style. I like the full fairing, split seat and more sportier [imo] look and it is still comfortable 2up - but that's just me.

The other main thing is, I work with a plan. I want to get my wife a baby Ninja 250, when we grow to other requirements she can get the FZ6R and I can get a FZ1, FJR or Triumph Sprint ST - in 2-3 years time. With that I'll still have a Yamaha i-4 in the garage for the daily fun/commuting ;)

Its is till in the back of my mind if the FZ6R to my wife thing will actually happen and just go out and get the bigger bike from the start, but that I'll finally decide in 2 months time when I will have the money to put down - decisions, decisions...

I've got a black FZ6R and every now and then I think of taking off the red FZ6R stickers.

That's pretty good thinking. I bought my Fazer 5 years ago after 20 years without a bike and I bought it purely on looks. Never read the specs, never test rode it... and never had a day of regret since. I have a similar plan, to give my wife the Fazer and buy an FZ1, although I am also looking at the FJR 1300. Just waiting for tata ma chance! :Flash:

Yip, our toys are expensive, but it helps to adapt it to daily use. That's why I decide on a bike after they "collected" my LTZ 400 ATV which was just for fun.

Just for interest sake: Some of the previous FZ6 versions had about the same hp and brake setup as the FZ6R.

I have the yellow one and was thinking of taking off just the top section of the star. It's a separate sticker.

If someone has already done this or modified the stick in anyway, could they please post photos???

Thanks,

Have thought about mine just being a blue bike with no stickers, wouldn't be hard to do.

Looks good, but a little bare IMO.

Was thinking something like one of these photos...
Pretty subtle, almost did not see the change. I think just removing the stars at the bottom improves the look but I don't know if these are a separate decal.

Ok.....I think Im definately taking off the 3 stars sticker on the bottom of the main graphic on the bike..that looks MUCH better...and a little less gay.....

I love yellow though!! I bet they are on there good! might have to really work at those....

The above pics without it confirm it!!

I'll bet the stars at the bottom are part of the larger decal making it tough to do a partial removal. I guess if you are really careful with a blade it could be done.

3 Stars are a separate sticker. 3 stickers on each side of bike. I've already picked up the Goo Gone, now I need to figure out what I think looks best. Nice dilemma though.

Use a little bit of heat to soften the adhesive, it will make it a lot easier to remove them. I'd recommend a ahir dryer or heat gun. Just don't blister the paint underneath.

Yeah, its a seperate sticker or I wouldn't do it. Im thinking the same....apply a little even heat and work at peeling her back...........

It would almost relieve me if it was tough to get of that way I know the rest will stay put for years to come. I see that alot on the dirt bike graphics..some aftermarkets are good....some SUCK.....

a little heat always goes a long way !!!

Good luck all...its my weekend list of things to do!!

I actually took off the stars yesterday. It was really easy. I blasted it with a heat gun for maybe 20 seconds, and it just peeled right off. I didn't need any goo gone, no residue was left on the plastic.

Sorry about the crappy cell phone pic.
