The swingarm and rear part of the frame look a bit like the R6. I like it. I prefer this exhaust layout. I can't wait to see how it goes in BSB and Superstock, it'd be a good time to be a Yamaha racer.
compared to an AMA superbike...

LOL. "WOW!" was my exact same reaction while reading that article. Motorcycle technology is advancing so quickly, and it's during our lifetimes. We're here to see it happen.
Put it into perspective: Motorcycles have been around for nearly 150 years.

It's debatable, but the motorcycle as we know it came into being after the second world war. All those fighter-jockey's getting their thrills on Harley's.
Two wheels, motor and frame with the controls necessary to make it go and stop. That was kind of it.
Massive improvements over the years of course, but the basic rules applied until very, very recently. Suddenly it's all "skyhook" and computerized monitoring of every little thing. The the computers "adjust" nearly everything a rider is doing, and makes it better. Racing not included.
Think of that massive amount of computing power on my '82 CB00F - it would have taken an entire room connected to a powerplant. Nearly unimaginable back then.
All the way up to now. We are making pistons by breaking them? The sensors on the bike detect nearly every load being applied and change fueling, timing, etc ad nauseum so that we can recover from a mistake.
It's miraculous. It was just a dream even a decade ago.
In the '60's the U.S. was all space-happy. We would have a moon base, rockets would be flying between the planets regularly by now.
I'm feeling some of that. We're not at antigrav yet, but if we can make a tire that can stick and last? With all those electronics and other goodies?
We might just see a motorcycle that can corner like a sport car. How cool would that be??!! Excuse me. Some drool escaped there...

well the future looks bright, because once you pass 40 you start acting more like an elementary school kid so at least working our way up
