I have a quick question. Has anyone changed to a fuel cap with built it vent and removed the side vent tube? It's kind of a pain in the a$$ to have to put something under it if it's in the sun for a little while since the vented gas liquifies the blacktop. I've even had other guys at work with bikes and lots of experience think my bike was leaking. Guy said hey I can't smell what's leaking, but there's a small spot on the right side of bike. Most bikes come with gas cap vents. I've seen aftermarket ones with vent tubes in the cap assembly and am thinking about swapping mine out and removing bottom vent tube. Anyone with any experience care to chime in?

Alot of the aftermarket gas caps are vented they just don't look like it, Driven makes an expensive one and Roaring Toys makes one for half its price, just look closely and read the descriptions on ebay and you'll find some nice looking ones with vents.You'll lose your lock though.
Yeah, I know it won't do it in the garage or shade and it attracts the sun, because it's black. Mine doesn't normally drip except in the sun for a while (aka work). I don't usually leave my bike outside at home (she's in the garage). Fuel cap vents work by venting gas back into the tank. I was just curious if anyone actually tried changing to this method and not sure why Yamaha didn't just vent it this way since most bikes vent this way. There was a thread on here or on Facebook about some fuel caps and looked them up and they vent back into the tank supposedly work with nearly every make and model. Look better than factory too, but a little pricey, but a Christmas idea for the wife maybe. LOL

yep.... maybe a day on the bike... but expecting rain a lot here too.
I'm lucky at work, can park where I only get morning sun, have shade from about 11am on. when I park away from the building just drips fuel.
Don't know if you could get a can to let it drip in, but I'd be afraid of explosions trying to contain the fumes
There is an overhang in the front of the building with a picnic table for smokers and some extra space which bikes use to park under, but only space for a few bikes and I usually don't get there soon enough to get one.
I already get up at about 5:30am and don't feel like getting up even earlier for a better parking spot. Some guys whether in their cage or on their bike get there an hour early. F-that! Don't get paid to be there early. I'd rather sit at home an hour then at work. LOL! We don't have to park in the normal spots and get to park near the building by the flag poles though. They tried making bikes park in spots and then were like, man we don't have enough parking spaces. LOL! Some days it looks like a bike rally out front of my work.Earlier I checked and it said partly sunny Tuesday and Wednesday
. Last week started out forecast the same way so hopefully it changes.
