Sorry for the curly question, but what is that tree you have next to the stairs?
I have been trying to find a species that flourishes that well indoors for about year now,
and the ficus I have isn't performing well with the limited light available.
No, you're right... I've never seen ficus do that well in general... The tree next to the staircase is a Salix babylonica silkus... It does well *anywhere*... hardly needs any moisture (just a misting of the leaves to get the dust off), and doesn't care about lighting...
They're hard to find... however, if you Google the common, as opposed to horticultural name, you may have some luck: Silk Weeping Willow...
However, if you want a *real* tree that does well indoors, try a Norfolk Pine... mine last for years...
