I'd offer to do it but it would be the same situation if not more so. I've done a number of retros myself but I prefer to have a bike in front of me to be able to line things up properly with and get it adjusted as close to where it should be fore turning it over to the end user.
Part #2:
So... I finally decided to fix a few things (forced fixed because I was an idiot and didn't tighten my ballast enough to the original position... It fell off when I parked it today :banghead. Reopened the housing, SILICONED the shroud (it won't stay on without it), snipped the alignment tabs and aligned by eye. Also changed the location of the ballast (either one works fine, I prefer my new location, but it's close-ish to the forks [but doesn't interfere with them]).
Hopefully this is the last time that I'll be working on this mod, but I'm incredibly pleased with the end-result now.
So, final list of "tips" to follow when working on the housing:
* Snip the alignment ring's tabs and align it by eye.
* Silicone the shroud!
* Silicone the housing, WELL. The first time I ended up with fog. This time it should be alright, but we'll see.
* The unit (projector, light, etc) holds up in the oven no problem! I've heated to open and close it twice now without an issue.

Yeah. Rode the bike today to work for the first time since injured my wrist.. Just took the brace off on the way and then put it back on at work. Felt fine. Able to control clutch ok again so I will just ice and rebrace it when get home. Then probably same thing tomorrow.
Okay, just wondering. You would be able to get a head start if you didn't plan on riding. Taking your time to make sure that you don't make any mistakes. Looking forward to how it looks.

Yeah, I would be tempted to take off the fairings tomorrow night after work but I dont want to do anything really until I have it in my hands. My local PO is open only from 8-10am on saturdays for walk ins. Last time I had a Priority mail item, they put a tag in my mailbox and had to wait till monday before work to pick it up.. ANNOYED me.. Come knock on my door like they did in my home town where grew up!! Garbage to pay priority mail or whatever extra USPS rates and they dont do anything special with it, except make you wait another day to get it because they couldnt put it in your box and wouldnt come to the house..

That looks really nice!!! As mentioned to FZWhite, I was thinking of getting the paint and painting my shroud the 2009 blue, but I dont want to keep waiting to order that expensive ColorRite paint.. so I guess "stock" color and the standard reflector color for me right now.
With the Mini H1, not the D2S or Matchbox H1, it looks like mine will be much more forward.. Gonna do what Chad recommended and buy some wax paper to try "testing" the fit and make sure that indeed the h1 is ok. Just rouigh fitting it together and then having to pull the cold glue apart looks like will fit though, but wax paper will let me check even better.. HOPE IT DOES, though the projector lens will be close to the front.. Unfortunately no time to do that during the week here. So that and then resealing the assembly will have to wait till this next weekend.. just no time to do stuff m-f with my commute.
I have my harness,relay and everything mounted and hidden very nicely. testing with the headlight mounted it looks like it will fit perfectly also. just have to figure out what to do with a tiny bit of the excess wires like from the bulb etc.. shoulda been able to finish up on sunday, but I just had such a bad headache I couldnt think of anything.. so finish is delayed..

I know this is an old thread but I'm in the same boat of wanting to do this mod but I'm not a very patient person either and would consider paying somebody to do it too bad you don't live closer

Hey mngreg if i were you id just get some krylon fusion in a blue that looks close to your paint and use that. Im sure the color would be close enough as it doesnt have to be exact being the color will be behind a headlight lense. Even if you got the color rite it probably wouldnt match perfect either. Just a thought. Good luck with the project!
