So, have to announce, that my wife has finally decided on what bike she wanted. I had tried tirelessly to get her on a sport bike, and it just isn't her thing. So here is what she got...
It is a Honda CTX700N. Here is my review.
So, where to start. Let's just start with ergonomics. The seat height is very confidence inspiring. My wife, being 5'4" can flat foot with her legs bent. Bar reach and height is very comfortable. What I find amazing is that while she can sit on the bike, clutch and brake reach is comfortable to her, and forward controls are also comfortable. Then when I sit on the bike, everything feels perfectly placed for me as well.
The sides of the tank are concave, so the bike feels much slimmer for shorter riders to feel more confident. The tank has a handy storage compartment for wallet, keys or phone. Very creative if you ask me. Digital gauges are very easy to read, and everything is laid out very well. Light weight also contributes to confidence. The base model weighs in at 478. The auto/DCT model is about 500 lbs.
Last thing that I wanted to mention is how smooth it is. The parallel twin is extremely smooth, much smoother than her previous V-twin. Shifting is also smooth, clutch has a positive and firm feedback.
Overall, this bike is really awesome for the price, which for us was about $7500 out the door. We have a very good dealer that we have purchased 4 bikes through now, so they always take good care of us. I am sure that there is more that I could talk about, but I figure I have said enough.
