Is my tyre 'squared off'

This is a photo of the rear tyre on my XJ6, it's the original BT021 with 7,500 miles on it.

My question is does it need replacing? Its started to flatten off on the centre but I'm not really sure how worn it can go before it's time to replace it.

I'd appreciate some advice

Its a bit flat... You will notice differences when cornering, like it will just kind of "fall" into it when you lean and cross over the ridge to the side of the tire.

Have you kept up on checking and maintaining your air pressure? If it is down close to the wear indicators, I would indeed replace it.

I don't remember the 021 having any sort of wear indicator...

but couple of us got >13K miles out of them... strictly commute, taking it easy during the end of life (few twisties... but def. not pushing).... if money's not an issue, replace them, keep them as a backup for a "screw" emergency... it is the beginning of the riding season, so why not start off with a fresh set of shoes?

If money's tight... you're probably ok to get a couple more K miles out of them... I'd just start saving for another set now.

Thanks for the advice guys, this is all new to me and I wasn't sure how far to let it go. I'll get it changed at the end of the month.
