How low can you go ?

Would be surprised if anyone here can answer this with any authority, but here goes:

The FZ6R has 5.1" of suspension travel front and rear. It is possible to lower the front and rear a total of 3.0" by using a rear lowering link, raising the forks in the triples, replacing the rear shock spring and/or shock, and replacing the front fork springs.

If someone were to do this, would the front/rear tire or the swingarm make contact with anything ?

You would think that people that make products to lower motorcycles would know more about their products and how they work on various bikes, but they don't.

:banghead:

Maybe it's not an issue at all, but sure would be nice to know before you spent $500-$1000 don't you think ?

1. Seen the videos on installing the Roaring Toyz link, and also found a similar link made by Soupys Performance. I'm just not sure it will make enough of a difference by itself.

2. Don't want to lower the bike 3.0", but do want to know if it's possible safely.

3. Big Wheels are even lower. But we have an FZ6R.

Our previous bike (we still have it) is a 2007 Suzuki GS500F. Stock, it is the same height as the FZ6R. We lowered it 1.5" using a longer fixed length dogbone, cut all the foam out of the seat we could, put the suspension on it's softest setting, and dropped the forks in the triple clamps. It works, but another .5" or so would still be nice. As it is the bike will touch the centrestand occassionally with two people on it. Mind you, you shouldn't be railing two-up without good life insurance if you have dependent kids and overwhelming bills like we do anyway, so it doesn't bother us that we can't go full-tilt boogie on it.

We had the same dilemna lowering the GS. Unfortunately for the FZ6R due to it's fixed linkage mount it is more difficult to experiment. After the Soupys/RoaringToyz link the options are a set of shorter front/rear springs for $319 or a shorter rear shock option for $589.
