Hey folks, you may have seen my post in the general forum about buying another Fz6R. Well I did, or at least I pick it up this Saturday. I live in NY now and am stationed here by the military I'm looking on the process for registering it in GA (home of record/ where my parents still live). I looked on dmv.org but it wasn't as helpful as I'd hoped. I need it to be registered in my name even if I cannot be present down there. Anyone have any experience with this or wisdom?

I was in the Navy for 9 years, but am unsure what you are asking. Are you trying to register in Georgia, but keep the bike in New York with you? Why not just register in New York until you go back home. I know you can keep out of state tags if you're in the military, (I kept PA tags in Puerto Rico and West Virginia), but never tried to register them while I was out of state. I was in PA and took the car to Puerto Rico and then to WV when I lived there. Unless you are living in Georgia or buying the bike in Georgia I am not sure how that will work. Some states may also not honor you being out of state with registration even if in the military. I know PA does and most states probably do.
