    Help on plastics...

I haven't stripped my bike down that far... just the side fairings. Keep in mind plastic components are often locked in with tabs here and there.

    HOV Lane Petition

None of the HOV lanes in the Ottawa/Gatineau area say bikes are allowed. It's more likely to happen in the Gatineau (Quebec) side of things, as scooters are in abundance.. (I believe you can ride them when you are 14+, not 100% sure). Ottawa is generally quite anti-motorbikes...

    Argh! It's the end!!!!

Today was likely my 2nd last day of riding here in Ottawa... :( Took a nice ride up through the hills.. It's getting very slippery because of the frost and the tyres never quite warm up (nor do I). Im next on the service-n-store list of disheartened riders... I'll be even more miserable...

Slight "rattleing" at my front fork area

Mine's been rattling since about 6500 kms (4050 miles ish) as well... I haven't been bothered to really check it out.. Im due for an oil change and chain tighten anyhow. For mine, it really does sound like some of the plastics rattling... not metal. So be sure to check all those out first...

    Idle Spontaneously Increased

Thank you for the prompt replies... I have tried adjusting the slack when I got home, it didn't help any. I will see if turning the bars does anything. The problem seems to still be there. I'm going out on it tonight for a bit so I will know better by then. It's only 1 1/2 months old...

    Idle Spontaneously Increased

While riding home in a 16 km highway/traffic situation.. I exited the freeway to find that my idle is randomly now around 2K, maybe a little bit above. This is while the engine was 80 degrees Celcuis, on a nice sunny afternoon about 26 degrees celcius. I suppose I can adjust the engine idle...

    gearing change

I always understood that the speedo was read from the front wheel. Are you sure it's taken from the transmission? I didn't think that changing sprockets affected your speedo for this reason. Easy was to tell is to rotate the back wheel while it's up on a stand. I'm still waiting to get a...

Anyone else been to a Track yet???

I find that I am noteably quicker when accelerating full-out from a stop if I dont use the clutch between gears, but rather give the throttle a quick snap to about 3/4 throttle while shifting, then immediately back on full. It takes some getting used to and finding the right point to let the...

    HID Lights?

I have the DDM kit as well: 35W hi/lo with 5000K bulb. FYI, the 5KK bulb is still quite blue... I find the low-beam is way better than stock, but the high-beam isn't as effective as you might expect. Install took me 1 hr 15 mins to do (at night time, even). Be sure to adjust your beam many...

    Gauge Lights

That's quite interesting. I wonder if there are some kind of menus in there? Perhaps its what they use to make Canadian bikes not be able to swap between km/h and mph.

    My lucky day...

I was riding home last night around 1:30 in the morning.. beautiful night for a ride. I was coming down a 2-lane road through the outskirts of town, and I see two cars coming from the other direction. The first car drifts into his left-turning lane without signalling... I had a feeling he...

gas tank size? how many miles do you get?

My last fill-up was at 326 km (203 miles). Still probably could have gone another 25 kms or so.. depends a little on how you ride. My average over 2500 kms (1562 miles) is 47.08 MPG. My best tank was 50.18 MPG, worse was 43.48 (of very hard riding). Normal riding gives me 48-49 MPG of...

    High-Visibility Vest

My finding is that cagers give you much more respect on the road... they see you, see a responsible rider, and give you some space. :D

    Wind Noise / Headaches

+1... I was hesitant to try ear plugs... but they work so well. They eliminate all the unwanted noise (including the ticking from my motor!). Makes all my riding much more pleasant. At least try it, for 50 cents... will help much more than a new helmet. Senaca

    First bike shame

Welcome :D I think lots of people here ended up with the FZ6R for similar reasons... I know I did. And WenMark... I agree with you, it's not worth the gamble...

    gearing change

People, I'm pretty sure he changed it to increase his revs, since he is saying he can now use 6th gear at 20mph. Going for increased acceleration are we? ;)
