Long story short, took a corner wide on a track day and literally got stock in the mud. Ended up laying the bike down on it's right side at about 10 mph. I had to power wash the the bike, like hard core. There was mud EVERYWHERE, inside the fairings, inside the wheel wells even in the bolt...
When I first joined this forum I noticed many senior members had "graduated" from the FZ6R to the GSX-R750. After some investigation (and track days) I too made the transition.
Just want to ask other gixxer riders what they think about the change? Personally I love both bikes and really, REALLY...
Hi everyone. I'll be in LA for Thanksgiving weekend and wanted to check out some of the sweet local roads. If anyone is available to ride with me I'm hoping to check things out on Friday November 27, when all the cagers are resting at home. Alternative date is Saturday November 28.
Heads up ladies and gents. Cyclegear.com and Revzilla.com are having pre-order sales on some new Shoei helmets. I personally have been eyeing up the RF-1200 series.
The main reason to get a helmet pre-order is that you know for a fact that the manufacturing date is as recent as possible...
Comments and critiques welcome. I finally started getting a knee out after prodding from the instructors to tighten my racing line. It's not much but I was able to make midfleet in group B- (like C but faster paced).

So I'm facing a huge dilemma. I need a track bike.
I have been tracking the FZ6R which is great, but it is sadly just too slow, even for beginner group C. The tracks near me (Laguna, Sonoma and Thunderhill) are always packed with douchebags on Panigale 1199's, IN GROUP C! Basically they want to...
Suzuki has upped the ante with a 1000cc, relaxed position sport bike that WEIGHS THE SAME as the FZ6R: the 2016 GSX-S1000F
I'll say it again, a 1000cc, 145hp, 78.2 lb-ft, full faring, $10,999 fizzer clone that weighs only 474 lbs.
Now I know that we rabbid FZ6R fans are dropping...
Just a friendly reminder to lower your tire pressure to keep your traction up as the weather gets colder. For me, I find that running the stock Bridgestone Battlaxes at 31 front, 32 rear gave me optimum mountain road traction. On the freeway or going to work I still run them at the stock 33/36...
Was doing a 30mph turn coming downhill on a mountain road and my back tire kicked out. Saved it by push steering the outside handlebar in desperate panic. The bike stood up so hard it bucked and waggled but I kept my dignity... until I saw a tricked out Nissan 370z in my mirror had seen the...
I'm a huge fan of profile shots of cars and bikes. Figured I'd kick of a thread for us to show off our girls. Here's one of Rachel to get this thread started. Apologies if this has already been done.
So I'm in love with the R&G engine sliders but the silly Brits sent me washers that won't fit and hex bolts with tiny socket holes. This lead to me stripping a few of the bolts. To their credit they sent me replacements but I ended up just buying my own with larger socket holes.
Unfortunately...
Was replacing some stripped bolts on the right side engine casing and noticed that there is oil on the threads. The oil is black and looks a bit gritty, more like grease than leaking engine oil. Is this normal or should I have the mechanic look at it? Has anyone who has installed the R&G engine...
Please spread the word among people you know with 2015 R1s:
Suspension Recall Notice
Also I highly recommend subscribing to the Yamaha recall alerts. I had a part recall earlier this year and neither the dealership nor Yamaha ever contacted me.
Just finished my first ever competitive track day yesterday. Laguna Seca was way WAY harder than Sonoma, because of the straight aways. Also uploaded a track map with my notes from the instructor sessions. Actually I was able to start lapping people by my 4th session because I was camped out by...
So today I was riding in the mountains and there was a Harley Sportster (an Iron 883 I think) following me through some very tight turns. I waived him by on a straight and saw the impossible... the dude took a 25mph turn at 50, on a cruiser that can only lean at 32 degrees.
He did it by...
So I'm off to my second ever track day on Monday. I'm in the novice group at Laguna Seca and am not expecting to break any sound barriers. My big question is do I really need to replace my coolant with Water Wetter or Yamalube?
The reason I ask is that I was fine on my first track day at...
Before I get shouted down, yes I know there is already a thread on this.
However, I really need to know how the f... fudge do you splice the LED mirrors into the Motodynamic LED flush indicators? The reason why I want to do this is that the Motodynamic indicators come with a resistor kit...
Did the Z2 Road Rider 2.0 course at Sonoma Raceway over Easter weekend (full album):
Definitely recommend this as a $125 step II from the basic MSF course. Also a great way to get some cheap track time, without having to tape up your bike or being scared by the big kids whizzing by you...
Tweaked the bike two weeks after I bought it because I was getting sore thumbs and hands. The culprit was the stock angle of the brake and clutch levers being far too high. If you too are experiencing sore thumb joints and hand cramps I strongly recommend this fix.
Basically rotate your brake...
