Thanks all for the feedback. After two sessions of chain degreaser and lubing, with about 60 miles of riding, the rust is now gone! It's a relief and I am back to my regular chain maintenance :)
Long story short, took a corner wide on a track day and literally got stock in the mud. Ended up laying the bike down on it's right side at about 10 mph. I had to power wash the the bike, like hard core. There was mud EVERYWHERE, inside the fairings, inside the wheel wells even in the bolt...
Thanks for the heads up.
For those still interested I'm planning on riding either the Malibu mountains or hwy 2 on Saturday. Planned time is 11AM to 3PM. PM me of you're interested as I'm not sure yet where to meet up. I have my bike on the trailer so I will likely just trailer it to a...
Mine turns fine but the issue is slow turns while the bike is upright. The 750's bars just don't turn as much as the FZ6R's. With the fizzer I could thread through stationary traffic at stop lights and essentially pick my lane. With the gixxer there's no way I can do right angle turns between...
Glad you're alright. Also even more glad that you're playing it smart and getting the bike looked over.
If you need to save money, just pay for the mechanical repairs now and leave the cosmetic damage. Winter is coming, so just save some cash to dress her for the ball in the spring.
When I first joined this forum I noticed many senior members had "graduated" from the FZ6R to the GSX-R750. After some investigation (and track days) I too made the transition.
Just want to ask other gixxer riders what they think about the change? Personally I love both bikes and really, REALLY...
Exactly. The front wheel acts as leverage holding the bike up. Practice at home on a bicycle. Lean the bike to the right slightly then yank the bars to the right, the bike will stop falling over. Just don't touch the front brake below 10 mph. Rear brake only when riding below 10 mph and using...
Great question, as I've read mixed experiences with clip-ons. My rule of thumb is to never put unnecessary load on them. In particular people have reported their clip-ons moving when when they attach tie down straps. If you're super worried then I'd check the torque on your clip-on bolts before...
This was my one and only complaint about the FZ6R, that's it's top heavy. But with a set of sliders on you'll be safe if you tip over at a stop or something. The is bike is excellent in city traffic and on the highway, best riding position I've ever experienced.
Cool, and thanks for the heads up on LEOs. We'll do a sensible pace then, and spread out more in the canyons so people can ride as they please. I myself volunteer to take up the rear as I don't know the roads and don't mind keeping the more relaxed riders company.
Do you have any route...
Crap, you're right. I was thinking that Saturday everybody would be driving to take their families to the beach/park/whatever. Also I'm gambling that the hardcore black friday people will be out at midnight and then asleep by the time the sun comes up. We'll play it by ear.
Was practicing rear-wheel slides on a scooter, that ended predictably...
Leaned a scooter over on sand without keeping a foot down for stability, while on vacation, with my girlfriend on the back, ended predictably...
Grabbed a fistful of front brake while the wheel was turned on my FZ6R...
Weighing in at 165lbs and 5'7", with a 30" inseam. You'll be fine on the FZ6R with you're height.
If you feel the bike tipping over while you're at a stand-still then yank the handle bars in the direction of the fall. Another tip is to mostly use the rear brake below 10mph. The reason is that...
