Hi just to let you know that Haynes have published a manual which is available in softback printed or on line versions.

Glad of the heated clothing :(
The prime ingredient in WD40 is Kerosene, use this to clean and degrease.
Thats why it works.
Patent chain cleaners are usually kerosene too.
Wash off, dry they apply chain lube.

According to the service log for a bike I purchased in 1995, the first service was carried out 7 days after collecting the machine.
Approx 100 miles a day for 5 days, then wait to book in for first service.
One of the benefits of buying a bike in the summer.

Hi
Life depends on use and storage, both can reduce life.
Rubber wears, when used and vulcanises (hardens and cracks) when exposed to UV or stored out of shape.
I would recomment a max of 4 years if you expose the bike to sun, based on UK sun, you know that orange thing hidden behind the rain...
Just found this
Hi
I have only just found this section
Having just come back from the USA on a business trip, its great to be in a country where they (cages) dont turn right on Red(i suppose this would be left in the UK) (mobile phone users excepted).

Hi
i have been riding for over 30 years, here is my experience.
1, Leather if well made and looked after affords great skid protection, needs well fitting armour to protect the back and joints. Soaks the rain like a sponge and in UK weather can take two days to...
Every bike has its charactor
Hi
Whilst there are always some quirks with any bike, you soon learn.
i suppose riding every day, for two yearrs on this bike, I have learned how to manage these.
Now I simply don't notice any issue.
However, I do tend to ride with a lot of anticipatiom and try...
Dealer quotes like that are great for insurance jobs or if someone else is paying.
Most panels can be fitted yourself, only the bits like the indicators and brake lever may need replacimg. The rest can be polished, or simply wear ypur dents with pride.
I had a similar quote for a scooter...
Like you, i had a screw in the rear tyre, so i had a pr4 fitted to the rear. I left the stock front on as it had lots of wear left.
As luck would have it, i picked up another screw only a month later, so another new rear pr4 was bought.
I like the pr4, great tyre.
The rear wheel is quite easy...
Dont get too hung up on high mileage. Its how well its been looked after that counts.
A bike that is used regularly and maintained will be a lot better than a low mileage one left salted up for one winter or simply not cleaned or maintained. Consider what condition the rubbers might that are...
WD40 contains Kerosene, so could be used to clean off the chain lube, but make sure it is cleaned off before using chain lube.
Recommended method is to clean chain with kerosene, wait 15 mons, wash off, dry then lube.
Recommended intervals: lube 250 to 300 miles or shorter if wet.
Clean...
Scotland
I have the Europoan equivalent of the fz6r, which we call the xj6.
My all time favourite rides have been in the highlands of Scotland.
The North coast road is one I remember.

We have lots of great roads.
Choose your style of riding and the have a look on the maps.
Some days i like a blast on fast roads, other days bendy mountain passes.
We spent a weekend in Wales and after talking to some locals found some great back roads.
Love Moorland routes too...
Hi from England
Hi, I am David from Loughborough, England.
I am lucky enough to be able to commute to work with my XJ6.
In my mid 50s now, having had motorcycles continuously since 18, with the exception of 3 days of cold turkey between bikes 5 years ago.
I usually take the long way home to...
Love it
I use the centre stand for fuel stops and maintenance.
For my wifes bike, we use a paddock stand when doing maintenance, makes chain lube a lot easier.
I bought the paddock stand 20 years ago when i had my only bike with no centre stand.
Please excuse the spelling, we do things...
