My latest is doing time trials in a Miata track car. The car is supercharged, weighs in at slightly less than 2000 lbs and has close to 200 WHP. This is at Sears Point last Friday.

1st, there's never going to be a shortage of people telling you that it's too dangerous to ride. Most of the time they mean well, but they're also mostly either the kind of people that are generally afraid of doing...
Instead of drilling the bars, one other option is to file the little nubs down and don't use them to locate the bars. You can tighten the controls down more than enough without the nubs and you can then also reposition the controls independent of bar position.
