Jumping with the car, was the car running? If it was you may have damaged the stator or reg/rec. If it was not running there shouldn't be a problem, but I'm not entirely sure about that. I fried a battery myself by using a car battery charger. Motorcycle batteries can...
I didn't think any of the American models had the throttle restriction.
If you twist the throttle more than about a quarter turn, then you have no restriction.
On the other hand if it is there, you need to take the fairings off the left hand side of the bike. Find the plate that restricts...
From memory it's under the fuel tank. Was really quite easy to do. It's under a rubber boot if you're looking for it. Only fits in one of the connectors.
I did a fair bit of searching about a year ago, and could only find a yellow one on amazon, that would have cost close to $400 shipped to Australia and still need to be painted, so I kind of gave up at that point.
